Primary Purpose:
Manage the company’s supply portfolio globally, with direct responsibility for North and Latin America, developing product lines, sourcing supplier strategies and secure profitable deals with strategic suppliers to serve our customers worldwide. Responsible for leading a team that handle intercompany operations globally. Coordinates the sourcing strategy in the rest of the world.
 
Deliverables:
  • People management of the Inter-Company sales activity team: Leading the team that prepare quotations, sourcing and order fulfillment with Univar entities in China, Singapore, Mexico, Brazil and several Univar locations in Europe. In addition, the Sourcing Manager for Europe reports to this position. Also coordinates the supply management with UNIVAR China
  • Develop product line strategy and respective supplier development and develop supplier data base and inteligence system to establish long-term relationships that are beneficial to all parties in North America and Latin America. Discover and partner with trustworthy suppliers
  • Cooperate with stakeholders to guarantee agreement on terms (pricing strategies, payment terms) and processes (logistic strategies, etc.)
  • Research and anticipate shifts in the negotiating power of suppliers. Proactively communicate to colleagues and management changes in costs and potential supply risks
  • Complete strategic SWOT analysis for suppliers, by product family and by industry
  • Manage standard costs and pursue cost reductions regularly
 
Education/Experience/Training:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Business Administration, International Trade or similar
  • At least 10 years of experience in the sourcing arena, preferably with chemical products
  • Bilingual in Spanish & English is highly desirable
 
Specialized Knowledge/Skills:
  • Understanding of chemical market dynamics and sound business judgement
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships.
  • Comfortable in analyzing and interpreting data, marketing research, import records analysis
  • Solid judgement with ability to make good decisions
  • Ability to some travel to tradeshows and conventions
